Mane Monday : New Shea Moisture Kukui Nut & Grapeseed Oils Damage Rehab line

Sundays are my wash days, so that means I do not leave the house. I relax, I schedule blog posts, I read, do laundry and prepare my hair. For the last two months I haven’t been satisfied with how my wash n go’s have turned out so I’m up for trying new techniques.

In a previous post I talked about how I am late in discovering pre-poo method. Which is using coconut oil or a conditioner while detangling your hair before actually washing your hair. This would be the second time I pre-poo and instead of conditioner, I used Renpuré Dry Oil and some Organic Coconut Oil. I had a week old twist out style in, and honey the struggle was real.

I felt like it was an extra task detangling while pre-poo when I typically detangle in the shower, which I still did when I had the Shea Moisture Kukui Nut & Grapeseed Oils Damage Rehab shampoo sitting on my hair. But I did section my hair into about 8 sections because my hair is thick and I wanted to take my time because I’m noticing my hair is shedding more than normal. As you know I do not use any hair tools as far as wide tooth comb or denman brush. I use my fingers to detangle and I can see why naturals become impatient with the detangling process and grab a brush or comb. I do not want to disrupt my curl pattern and my fingers are less harsh to my hair.

I picked up Hask Coconut Milk & Organic Honey Curl Care Deep conditioner for about $2.49 at Target. I used this after my shampoo and conditioner and let it sit for 30 minutes while wearing a shower cap.

Now for the Shea Moisture products, I like the new packaging, the price was 8.99 each. The consistency is thick but very good slip. Of course it smells great. Being as though I only Shampoo once a month I won’t use the Shampoo a lot but as for the conditioner I will use it more frequently and probably increase my wash days to twice a week.

I was looking at my old pictures on my Pinterest page from the beginning of my big chop #1 journey and I loved my curl pattern and I didn’t do any styles to my hair except wash n go. I remained consistent with a regimen of using only Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus line.

Final Look:

In the morning with my wash n go’s refresh, I wet my hair a lot, and apply my styler and air dry.

For the next month I am going to try to leave the twists outs and flat twists alone and keep up with my wash n go’s. Share with me your wash day routine and what products you use.
